New website The Wealthy RN

Welcome to The Wealthy RN

If you’re reading this first post, you’re probably aware that this blog is about money and having it grow for you.  But, before we begin, let me tell you a little about myself.

My name is David and I’m a Registered Nurse.  Without saying anything else you can probably assume that I’m passionate about health and wellness and you would be correct.  However, I’m also a finance nut.  At first glance you may not think the two go together.  But for myself, wellness in life combines many aspects.  This includes the topics of health and wealth.  You get these right and you’re a much happier person.

How I started

You see, I didn’t just stumble upon making a blog.  Reading and writing have been a companion of mine for a long, long time.  So I enjoy delving into many topics.  I love learning.  And when it comes to finance I’m not talking about that dry, dull, and boring stuff you come across where you read the first page and leave for more exciting things.

I’m talking about learning money tools that can change a life forever.  Like learning how to budget and save from an early age and then having that money do something for me.  Like, really exciting things!  I learned early on that money was a tool.  A great one in fact if you knew how to use it properly.  Obviously there was a formula out there because we see the fruits of many people’s successes (and many people’s failures).  And, wow, how it could change a person’s life!

However, for myself part of the learning involved first becoming prey to the dangers of money – namely debt.  I quickly learned that along with the glamorous looking appeal of cash came the dangers of consumerism, keeping up with everyone else, and yes, plain old greed.

And I wasn’t alone.  In fact, you’ve probably experienced the same things yourself.  If you live in any developed country today, it’s easy to live paycheck to paycheck, spend all your money, and don’t realize (and believe) there can be a better life out there for you.

Statistics prove this.  Very few people have enough to comfortably retire on.  Ask any older person if they’re financially free and I’m guessing you’ll get an all too common answer:  no.

My Continuing Journey

So, my journey to find a better life started.  And continues to this day.  I’ve made the mistakes of credit card debt, auto debt, and living above what I should be doing.  But I also learned how to conquer and overcome although the road can be hard.  But through this I’ve also learned to significantly build my net worth and set my family on a path of financial security and freedom.

And through the voyage others have noticed as well.  My co-workers started asking me questions about money and how to grow it.  I quickly became known as someone to get advice from.  And although I was quick to point out that I was still learning myself, my reputation grew.

What I quickly realized was that I really enjoyed helping others learn about money.  From how to save it, to invest it, to have it work to build a great future.  What I also learned was that there was a lot of danger out there as well.  As we all know there is a lot of promise and not much delivery when it comes to money and finance.  Everyone else seems to want our money and have their own interests at heart.

So, with my love for reading and writing and learning about finance, I’ve started this blog.  Through it, I’m hopeful that that you’ll not only learn about making your dollars grow and thrive in your accounts but that you’ll have a bit of enjoyment at the same time.

Sometimes I’m pretty serious about what I write about because money is a major factor in our lives.  But I also explore the fun and enjoyment of personal finance (who thought the two could go together?).  Yes, this topic can be fun.

Because ultimately our financial goal is to have freedom in our lives.  Personal freedom to not be tied to a job all our lives and the peace that having enough can bring.

We want our dollars to thrive.

So, welcome…
